Last night my family and I attended Movie night at Fenway Park in Boston, MA. A first for us, and to say the least, we all had a BALL! They certainly hit a grand slam with this event, what a perfect summer evening for the family. Located at the home of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park, featured the ever so popular classic baseball movie "A league of their own" celebrating the movies 25th anniversary. It was a pitcher perfect summer night, the weather couldn't have been better. The park was filled with families and people of all ages.
I have never attended a movie at Fenway Park but I can assure you we will certainly be back for more. It does not disappoint!
The cost was $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, 2 and under were free. That is more affordable than it is to go to the movies and Boston's iconic Fenway Park is certainly an upgrade from your local cinema. It was first come first serve seating all around the parks lower level. How cool?! We arrived as the movie was about to start and we scored front row seats behind home plate, talk about VIP! A handful of the parks concession stands were open where you could purchase ice cream, popcorn in baseball helmet bowls (How fun!), brick oven pizza, peanuts and beer, just to name a few. There was something for everyone! It was such cool experience to be in the park not during a game, it was less busy and I was able to see a lot more inside the park that I had never noticed during game time hustle and bustle. I snuck away for a few moments during the movie to take some photos to share with you all and it was almost as if I had the park all to myself. What a site to see! Parking directly at Fenway Park was $10 which was a premium as these parking spots are typically $60 during a game. There was no wait at any of the restaurants and bars close by so it was easy to have dinner or apps beforehand with no lines no waiting, then walk over to the park.
The gates opened at 6:45pm and gave movie goers the opportunity to walk the warning track. Attendees had the ability to also meet former All American Girls Professional Baseball Players Maybell Blair and Shirley Burkovich and actress Tracy Reiner. The movie started at 8:00pm sharp and was shown on the enormous center field vision board and could be seen easily from any seat in the park.
It was so much fun and a wonderful summer family fun filled night, I cannot say enough good things! I highly recommend checking out any upcoming movie nights or family events at Fenway Park. I will be sure to keep you posted on future family events. Stay tuned!
