Cakest Easy DIY Fondant Cake Kit! Professional looking, a fraction of the price, and best of all, a

This post is sponsored by Cakest.

I came across this super cool cake kit company called Cakest. They have a variety of stunning fondant cakes to choose from, cakes that you would pay an arm and a leg for from a bakery. You choose the cake of your liking and they mail you the kit to make the cake yourself! The kit includes ingredients, the tools you need, and step by step instructions on how to make a cake like a boss! How cool is that?!

Not only are Cakest cake kits a fraction of the cost you would pay for a bakery to chef it up, but the experience alone is worth every penny. Never in a million years did I ever think I could bake such a beautiful cake and with such ease! Their cakes are gluten, soy and nut free.

The best part is, they are a PIECE OF CAKE to make!

Lucky for me, Cakest reached out asking if I would be interested in trying a complimentary kit! Of course my answer was yes!

I have to admit I was extremely nervous. For one, I had NEVER used fondant in my life, ever! I like to bake but this was something out of my comfort zone. Cupcakes are my jam, not cakes and I have never attempted to make such a glamorous cake. I was nervous, not only did I want my cake to come out picture perfect so I could share it with you all, but I didn't want to let down this brand who was kind enough to send me their product. I also was nervous, as I would never share anything with my audience that I wouldn't recommend, so I was hoping for an all around wonderful experience. Needless to say the pressure was ON.

I called my bff Shauna and told her how excited I was and that she HAD to help me make this cake and that I needed an extra set of hands to take pictures of the process. She happily obliged! Thank's Shauna!

Once the box arrived I couldn't wait to open it. The kit comes with gluten free cake mix, fondant, tools and easy to follow instructions. All you have to do is add a few ingredients you likely already have on hand, eggs, butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, vegetable oil and powdered sugar. Start by reading all of the instructions on the provided cards front to back. The instructions suggested that you bake and frost the cake the day before you decorate it. So, I did just that. I baked the cakes following each step by step instruction that are provided in the kit. It was such a breeze, B even helped! the instructions were very intuitive, similar to what you would find on the back of a box but with more detail and included images.

B helped me mix the ingredients and watched the cakes bake. He loves sitting on the floor in front of the oven with the oven light on, and watch the magic happen.

After about 20 minutes when the cakes were completely cooled, I made the frosting. I followed the instruction card provided in the kit. It was super easy. And I have to mention, I have never made frosting with cream cheese, forgive me if I was not in the know. But let me tell you, this is the BEST frosting I have ever made and is my new go to frosting for all of my future baking endeavors. Yum! Good thing B was sleeping, because I may or may not have licked the frosting bowl clean and I was happy I didn't have to share :)

Once frosted, I then covered the frosted cake with a big bowl over night. The next morning Shauna came over to decorate the cake.

We followed the instructions and got decorating. To start, we simply rolled out the fondant and covered the cake, cutting off the extra with a knife.

Once the cake was covered in fondant we started to decorate the rest of the cake making the panda. We cut out the included stencils for the panda and leaves and used those as guides to then cut the rolled fondant into the respective shapes. Next, we (Shauna) rolled and shaped the green fondant for the bamboo and I cut the leaves. It was so easy with the tools and instructions provided in the kit. It was a seamless process even for the two of us amateur cake bakers who had never used fondant and had no clue what we were doing. B helped roll fondant and watched us as our masterpiece came to life!

We had such a blast. I could not only see these cake kits being great for a birthday celebration, but these would be a blast for a girls night. Make and frost the cakes the night before and have the girls over to decorate. Similar to the paint nights, except with cakes! They would also be a fun project to do with your kids, anytime! Even a unique gift to give someone who loves to bake. Fun. Fun. Fun.

Ta-da! We made that! Can you even believe how gorgeous this cake is?! I like to think we nailed it! We were more than impressed with our finished product. I texted a picture to my husband and his response was "nice...where is the picture of yours?" He thought I was sending him a picture from Cakest website. Once I told him that was our cake he couldn't believe it!

I can't say enough good things about Cakest cake kits. They are easy, fun, budget friendly, and you will be so happy with your fancy finished product that will be sure to impress! They even taste as good as they look! B can attest to that! Be sure to share Cakest and their cake kits with all your mom friends! You can thank me later.
